Story

Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is playing a game to seize control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from the baton signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got a cameo from Robert Pattinson in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where the hell was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to get his own version of the Penguin in Batman (2022), but he failed. However, for his own series, the character is portrayed as a casual tobacco user who prefers cigars.

Absolutely sloppy tone and atmosphere

An umbrella falls and the logo is changed to the Warner Bros. logo featured in the film Graham Norton and others: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Heavy, dirty, and dark, but Farrell manages to capture that glow of charm that Gandolfini did in Tony Soprano. The Sopranos are particularly similar in tone.

Where to start with Farrell

There’s a lot of dark stuff in this opening sequence, but there are still comedic moments that fit the tone and don’t detract from it. Amazing is the right word. I love seeing talented star actors take on roles like this and the makeup/cgi or whatever they did to turn him into the Penguin not only physically pass the eye test, but also look incredibly realistic. There’s always the risk that if the makeup isn’t good enough or just a little off, it can be a complete distraction.

It didn’t disappoint, in fact, it blew me away

In Penguin, it adds to his performance and the overall quality of the show, because it’s a damn good job. And Farrell, as an actor, is completely immersed in the role. Maybe I’m a little biased because he was one of my favorite actors before this show, but I think this will give him the recognition he deserves. I never rush into new shows because I like to binge-watch episodes, but I wanted to see how this one actually turned out.
